‘Dancing with Birds’ Returns for 2026 Season

Following a brief winter break, China’s first outdoor immersive bird show, Dancing with Birds, reopened for its 2026 season in March. Setting a major milestone of Sino-French collaboration in China’s cultural tourism industry with its introduction last year, the return of Dancing with Birds represents a new progress with an enhanced visitor experience to welcome China’s peak travel season.

Dancing with Birds was created by Yaohu Town of Yixing in Jiangsu province, in collaboration with Chinese director Fan Yue and Puy du Fou Asia, the regional arm of France’s world-renowned Puy du Fou. The attraction combines artistic live bird performances with ecological awareness, bringing a world-class, eco-conscious tourism experience to the region.

This 300-million-yuan (~USD 43 million) project features a 2,300-seat hillside auditorium built from local pottery and bamboo as a natural habitat for over 250 birds across 14 species from France, including falcons, gyrfalcons, red kites, black kites, vultures, and white storks under the specialized falconry and aviary management of the Falconry Academy of Puy du Fou.

Through free-fly and low-altitude performances, visitors experience close interaction with the birds in an environment designed around harmony with nature, reflecting Puy du Fou’s core philosophy.

Spring Return for Next Phase of Growth

Joan VALADOU, Consul General of France in Shanghai and delegation visited Dancing with Birds following its reopening, welcomed by Dimitri DELOPOULOS, Chief Development Officer of Puy du Fou Asia and falconry teams.

Since opening its doors last autumn, Dancing with Birds has attracted strong tourist interest and contributed significantly to Yaohu Town’s tourism growth. Last year, the town welcomed 2.8 million footfalls and generated 410 million yuan in tourism revenue (Source). This seasonal return is part of a strategic plan to strengthen Dancing with Birds’ role in enriching Yaohu’s ecological and cultural tourism offerings.

“Dancing with Birds has moved from its trial and initial opening phase to an innovative model of cultural tourism that drives both commercial performance with a strong message of wildlife conservation,” said Dimitri Delopoulos, Chief Development Director at Puy du Fou Asia.
“With this strategic opening, it’s pleased to watch our visitors, whether it’s their first or fifth visit, lose themselves with the beauty of the birds within the natural charm of Yaohu Town especially now as the spring blossoms. Dancing with Birds continues to refine the visitor experience, broaden audience segments, and promote ecological awareness, placing Yaohu Town as a must-visit in the region’s tourism network.”

Strategic Partnerships Drive 2026 Regional Tourism Growth

As part of the 2026 strategy, Yaohu Town has integrated Dancing with Birds into broader regional tourism ecosystems through cross-promotional partnerships with key actors in Yixing’s culture, sports, and tourism sectors.
